Being human means that we are not ‘perfect’. Even if we live a very ‘clean’ and active lifestyle, our genetics and life’s stressors can leave a dramatic impact on our health.
Genetic predisposition, medications, age, depression/anxiety, sleep deprivation, chronic stress, poor nutrition, alcohol consumption, smoking, not getting enough sunshine, sedentary lifestyle – all of these factors (and more) make up our total risk.
Of course, some of these are entirely in our hands, while others are not.
As important as it is to utilize daily practice for risk prevention, it is equally as important to get regular lab work done to understand your current health status and identify risk factors.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
- Get ahead of risk factors
You are not your parents or grandparents. However, your genetics and subsequently your risk for certain abnormalities may reflect your shared DNA. Elevated blood sugar/insulin resistance and high cholesterol are just a few of the more common disorders that are largely influenced by genetics. If your mother or father was diagnosed with one of these disorders, you are more likely to experience the same.
- See how your lifestyle affects your body
Every January we see an influx of patients who know that the holiday season has affected their waistline. We also see how this causes changes in their lab work. Blood sugar, triglycerides and liver enzymes can be negatively impacted when your diet gets off track or you consume too much alcohol.
- Get to the root cause of your symptoms
Hair loss, frequent illness, fatigue, numbness in fingers or toes… the symptoms you want answers for can frequently be solved through regular blood labs.
Raise your standard
If you’ve never seen a holistic doctor, chances are you have only had very basic lab work run. Going to your primary care physician for an annual visit may mean that you get their version of ‘standard’ labs. You probably get a CBC (complete blood count), metabolic panel, and maybe a lipid panel showing your cholesterol levels.
This is just not enough.
We run an advanced cardiac panel on our patients every 6 months.
I can’t tell you how many new patients I get who haven’t had ‘standard’ labs done in YEARS.
We offer top of the line, cutting edge testing to get you more answers which lead to more successful outcomes and improved risk factors.
Whenever possible, we get patients “The Big 6” testing bundle for this reason.
