Stay Hydrated This Summer: 7 Infused Water Recipes


In addition to its beauty, infused water is a great way to hydrate your body and add in wonderful health benefits. Berries, citrus, melons, fresh ginger, and fresh herbs are all excellent choices. You can float the ingredients freely in water, mix them in a glass pitcher or use a specialty infusion pitcher to make your customized water. Always start your recipe with clean, filtered water to avoid toxins, and stay away from plastic pitchers to avoid BPA and other contaminants.

What Can I Infuse Water With?

Fresh herbs, fruits, and spices inspire nearly limitless combinations for your infused water creations. Some of the most popular include:

  • Apples or pears
  • Stone fruits such as peaches or plums
  • berries
  • rosemary, basil or mint
  • cinnamon or cayenne pepper
  • tropical fruits such as kiwi or mango
  • melons
  • citrus fruits such as lemon, lime or orange
  • cucumber
  • ginger root

Important: Infused water is best 2 to 4 hours after you’ve made it. Or you can let it infuse overnight in the refrigerator. Some ingredients last better than others. With fresh herbs, for example, mint lasts 2 to 3 days but rosemary or lemon rind can last up to a week. Keep in mind the more of each ingredient you add, the stronger the flavor.


Each recipe makes approximately 6 servings of water.

Basil, Blueberry and Lemon Water

  • 5 cups filtered water
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 pint blueberries
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced

Lemon, Cucumber, Blackberries and Ginger Water

  • 5 cups filtered water
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh blackberries
  • A small piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

Strawberry and Thyme Water

  • 5 cups filtered water
  • 6 chopped strawberries (or berries of your choice)
  • 4 sprigs of fresh thyme

Cucumber, Lemon, Ginger and Mint Water

  • 5 cups filtered water
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 small piece of ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves

Watermelon, Mint and Lime Water

  • 5 cups filtered water
  • ½ cup of fresh watermelon cut into chunks
  • ¼ of fresh mint leaves
  • One lime, thinly sliced
