The Healthy Heart Show Relaunch With Natural Heart Doctor Jack Wolfson And Naturopathic Physician Dr. Lauren Lattanza
Dr. Wolfson’s Re-Launch Of His Much-Anticipated Podcast
With me, as always, in the future is Dr. Lauren Lattanza. She is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor with training from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. She’s got an extensive history in health and wellness and phenomenal education. We are so lucky to have her on the show. Dr. Lauren, great to see you.
I’m so happy to be here. Thanks for having me on.
It’s exciting to be able to relaunch the show. We did about 45 episodes initially and we had some fantastic guests and a whole variety of topics but everything always links back to cardiovascular health. I know you are trained to be a doctor of cause and I have become a doctor of cause. If we start to find the causes of why people have heart issues, why people have sickness, that is how people start to recover. Dr. Lauren, what do you think about becoming a doctor of cause and how is that different from what traditional mainstream medicine is doing?
There are so many different causes for what can go wrong with our health. There are many things that we’re exposed to both good and bad every single day. It’s navigating that path and using nutrition, supplements and mind, body medicine, all of these things to create optimal health rather than pills and procedures and a pill for every ill approach, which is masking symptoms. It’s just navigating how to walk through modern life and do that so that you have an optimal life.
Everything that we take in and digest accumulates within our body.
My goal and I know yours as well because we see patients in Scottsdale and we do a lot of virtual consulting, is I love the idea of that cardiac longevity 100-year heart. How exciting is that for us to be able to inspire, educate and realistically have our patients, clients, friends and contacts achieve that? Isn’t that something that’s so much better than what they’re offering in the conventional medical system?
It’s so fulfilling and we have to help everybody get out of their way. We have to help everybody navigate and figure out what it is that might be taken in that is ruining your heart and your health altogether, making things leaky and allowing inflammatory factors into your body that you’d be better at without.
The episodes that we’ve done and we have planned in the future is we’re bringing in fantastic guests in the health and wellness space to be able to teach us all these different things that can help us with cardiac longevity, the 100-year heart, getting off of the pharmaceuticals, reducing the number of pharmaceuticals or avoiding dangerous procedures. We talk about so many different things on the show where for example, we may be talking about mold mycotoxins, plastic or the dangers of blue light, everything we talk about. I want people to remember and understand that all of this relates to heart health.
We may not be constantly talking about blue light from technology leads to atrial fibrillation. We may not make that exact correlation on that episode but we want people to know that when you’re reading an episode about EMF, mold, detoxification or the best mattress to sleep on, all these different things relates back to heart health and total body health as well.
I frequently say we’re not just a collection of organs, a heart patient or a liver patient. We are a whole person and that’s what holistic medicine is all about. Knowing that if something is affecting your gut, it will wind up affecting your heart. If something is affecting your lungs from mold inhalation, it will downstream affect your heart.

One of my favorite stories has to do with a person with high blood pressure. I can think of this one particular person who came to see me several years ago. She was on several different drugs for high blood pressure. The conventional doctors told her that there was nothing that she could do and she was genetically designed to have high blood pressure, which is a total joke. No one is genetically designed for sickness. We are designed for health and wellness if we give the body what it needs and take away what it doesn’t. We worked on her nutrition and we talked about the importance of sleep, sunshine and a healthy lifestyle. We mixed in a few evidence-based supplements and were able to slowly march her off pharmaceuticals. How many examples do you have of people like that where you’re able to reduce or eliminate their pharmaceuticals?
That’s one of my favorite parts of my job. I was able to give patients hope that has been given no other answers or no other options. From day one, we’re telling them, “What you’ve been told and taught about conventional medicine is incorrect. We can offer you other options.” In natural medicine, we say we have to stimulate the beast, the healing power of nature. Your body innately wants to be healthy. You just got to get out of its way and we’re the lucky ones that get to coach you that way.
I spent many years in the traditional medical side as a hospital-based cardiologist dealing with the sickest of the sick. There are so many people that I could have impacted so much better back then. I could have offered them the 100-year heart but it was early in my career and I had not made that natural transformation yet. A lot of people missed out on this information and I want to make sure people get that information in order to achieve a 100-year heart without the pharmaceuticals and the surgeries.
There were plenty of people that I’ve encountered as well who, for one reason or another, they didn’t listen to this health-related approach. Maybe they were nervous, didn’t want to make changes or thought the changes were too drastic to make in their life. We’ve lost a lot of people that way. I have lost patients who unfortunately got sick and died because they’re not listening to our natural holistic methods. I know that’s certainly a passion of yours. That’s why you went into naturopathic medicine. Shed a little bit more light on your story on how you got to naturopathic medicine and then how you decided to join us at Natural Heart Doctor.
Your body innately wants to be healthy. You just got to get out of its way.
In my undergrad, I studied Psychology and Physiology, which set me off for this mind-body piece knowing that our physiology is impacted by everything around us. Everything that we take in and digest accumulates within our body and we often say the issues are in the tissues. Something will come out of about everything you ingest and digest. I wanted to follow that path. I knew I wanted to go into medicine of sorts and I wanted to be able to help people but I knew that the traditional model wasn’t going to do it. A pill for every ill wasn’t what I was after. I didn’t want to write scripts and handoff to procedures and this, that and the other. I knew that there was a better way.
Through a lot of years of training, education and studying both sides of the token, I studied with internal medicine MDs, DCs and naturopathic doctors so I’ve got a well-rounded education and saw that there’s a full spectrum of healing that we’ve dialed it in now. At Natural Heart Doctor, we have the benefit of giving that to our patients and awakening them to what lies out there, what’s natural and what is good for us.
We’re so happy to have you here. Certainly, anyone who’s reading, I would encourage you to jump on an appointment or a call with Dr. Lattanza. She sees people in person and virtually. She does consultations and we’ve got a fantastic team of health coaches as well. I want to make sure that you subscribe to our show. About Dr. Jack Wolfson

Dr. Jack Wolfson began his medical career as a typical cardiologist seeing dozens of patients, writing prescriptions, and performing procedures. Upon reflecting on this experience, he noticed a pattern similar to a revolving door. He could alleviate symptoms but never really cure his patients. Upon meeting his wife, Dr. Heather Wolfson (a chiropractic physician), he was introduced to the world of disease prevention through nutrition, lifestyle, and vitamin supplementation. From then on his goal was to shift the disease-care paradigm and change the world.
