In today’s world of fast food, synthetic chemicals, and quick pharmaceutical fixes, people are waking up to a timeless truth: health thrives when we return to nature.
If you’re ready to eat cleaner, ditch the toxins, and reclaim your vitality, it starts with simple, sustainable swaps. Here are 10 of my favorite natural alternatives that support a strong heart and a vibrant life.
1. Swap Soda for Sparkling Water with Fruit
Why it matters: Sodas—regular and diet—are loaded with sugars or artificial sweeteners that harm metabolism, teeth, and blood sugar control.
Try instead: Enjoy unsweetened sparkling water with lemon, lime, or crushed berries. You’ll get the fizz without the health risks. My favorites are Pellegrino, Topo Chico, and Mountain Valley….all in glass only, so as to avoid plastic.
2. Replace Table Sugar with Raw Honey
Why it matters: Refined sugar drives inflammation, insulin resistance, and heart disease.
Try instead: Use raw honey in for its antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits or organic maple syrup.
3. Ditch Vegetable Oils for Avocado or Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Why it matters: Industrial seed oils (like canola or soybean) are high in inflammatory omega-6 fats and often rancid.
Try instead: Avocado oil is heat-stable for cooking, while extra virgin olive oil is ideal for dressings and low-heat meals. Both support heart and brain health. The Wolfson’s usually cook in butter, ghee or tallow. Coconut oil for the occasional baked goods.
4. Trade Toxin Laundry for All Natural Products
Why it matters: The list of chemicals in most laundry products is a long one. They disrupt your gut microbiome, your skin health and your hormones. Just to name a few.
Try instead: Choose natural products from companies like 7th Generation and Dr. Bronners. We use Sal Suds from Bronners for laundry and household cleaning.
5. Choose Wild Fish Over Farm-Raised
Why it matters: Farmed fish often contain contaminants, antibiotics, and fewer beneficial omega-3s.
Try instead: Wild-caught salmon, sardines, and mackerel are clean sources of anti-inflammatory omega-3s to fuel your heart and brain. See our Wild Salmon Roe capsules.
6. Substitute Cow’s Milk with Unsweetened Almond or Coconut Milk
Why it matters: There is soooo much wrong with conventional dairy. To the animal and to you. Conventional dairy is difficult to digest and contains hormones and antibiotics.
Try instead: Look for unsweetened, clean-ingredient nut milks—or better yet, make your own at home. 1) Almonds 2) Water 3) Blend. If you choose dairy, we prefer raw or at least organic.
7. Go Natural with Your Skincare
Why it matters: Many commercial products contain endocrine disruptors like parabens, phthalates, and artificial fragrances.
Try instead: Use natural moisturizers like coconut oil, aloe vera, and shea butter. Add essential oils for a healthy, toxin-free fragrance. Check out the products from my wife’s company, WildMamas.com
8. Replace OTC Sleep Aids with Magnesium or Herbal Teas
Why it matters: Regular use of pharmaceutical sleep aids can lead to dependency and grogginess.
Try instead: Magnesium glycinate helps relax muscles and the mind. Chamomile or valerian tea can promote deep, restorative sleep without side effects. See our Magne 5.
9. Rethink Energy Drinks – Choose Organic, Mold-Free Coffee
Why it matters: Energy drinks are a mix of sugar, synthetic caffeine, and chemicals that stress the heart and adrenals.
Try instead: Enjoy organic coffee that’s tested for mycotoxins and free from pesticides—like Cardiology Coffee. It supports focus and energy naturally without compromising your health.
10. Replace Processed Snacks with Real Food
Why it matters: Chips, cookies, and energy bars are often full of seed oils, sugar, and preservatives.
Try instead: Snack on raw nuts, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs—or treat yourself to my Paleo Brownies, made with real food ingredients that nourish your body without the junk.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need to change everything overnight. Pick one area to start. These natural upgrades create momentum, and over time, they transform your energy, your skin, your sleep—and your heart.
Your body was made to thrive with real food, clean ingredients, sunshine, and movement. Give it what it needs, and it will reward you with vibrant, lasting health.
